A Workshop on Bhakti Yoga

The Sanskrit word bhakti comes from the root bhaj, which means “to adore or devote.” Bhakti yoga has been called “love for love’s sake” and “union through love and devotion.” Bhakti yoga, like any other form of yoga, is a path to self-realization, to having an experience of oneness with everything.
Paco (Rock the Kirtan ) will explore Bhakti Yoga using mantra and japa.
You will learn how to pronounce and chant the principe edit mantras and have an introduction of the secret mediation practice called japa.
Kirtan is the practice of singing and repeating the Name of God (in both male and female aspects), as well as using descriptive phrases or Divine attributes. Kirtan: (kiirtana) means in Sanskrit: to celebrate, to praise, to glorify…
Kirtan is a devotional chanting practice and an important aspect of the path of Bhakti Yoga, the yoga of Devotion. Singing songs of devotion is an immediate way of reunification with the divine. It´s our own heart singing to itself songs of love and devotion.
For this no need to be a good singer, or to know the words, you just need to follow the system of call and response with the leading singer. Bhakti Yoga is a path of surrender, without explanation or special technique or system of knowledge you immerse yourself into the divine presence in your heart. In its practical aspect it uses mantras as a tool for transformation: “mantra” comes from “mano”= mind and “trayate”= a tool to help us remember and reconnect with our true self. Using mantras we help our mind to rest into the silent heart. We will explore the eastern traditions of devotional music, mainly the Hindu one but also, Buddhist, and eventually Sufi.

December 9, 13.30-16.00
